Ge Kiln Teacup Gift Set
Ge Kiln Teacup Gift Set
In the history of Chinese ceramics, Ge Kiln (Ge yao) is one of the Five Great Kilns - the five greatest ancient Chinese pottery styles and reached its peak during the early Song Dynasty (960-1162). It's believed to have originated in the Zhejiang province, in the east of China south of Shanghai. The name "Ge" means "older brother" and the pottery reportedly takes its name from the elder of two potter Zhang brothers from the city of Longquan and whose special ceramics had a crackled glaze. The thickness of Ge yao ceramic varies, and the most popular glazes are pale blue, moon-colored white, gray and greenish yellow. Pieces of ancient Ge kiln pottery still exist in great numbers in China and around the world.
This cup set, that includes the traditional Ge kiln colors and fine cracks in the glaze as well as typical mountain scenes, is a lovely example of modern, Ge kiln pottery. Each Wanli Jiangshan set contains 5 cups beautifully arranged in an artistic gift box.
